Switch between your trust and school workspaces

Written for: Trust leaders and central teams who also work in a school.

If you’re a member of a trust and also work in one of its schools, you have two workspaces. The trust workspace shows summaries across all the trust’s schools. A school workspace is the school’s own Student Radar, where you see the pages and pupils your school role allows. You can move between them without signing out.

Trust membership and school access are set up separately. Your trust adds you as a member; each school gives you your role there.

Choose a workspace when you sign in

If you have more than one workspace, you’ll see Welcome to Student Radar after you sign in.

1. Choose the Trust tab, or the School tab for a school. You only see the tabs you have access to.
2. Click the trust or school you want to open.

If you have only one workspace, it opens straight away.

Tip: on the sign-in page, choose Trust under Organisation type. If you belong to only one trust, Student Radar then opens it for you without asking.

Go from a school to your trust

1. At the top left of the screen, click your school’s name.
2. Switch organisation opens. Your trust is listed with Trust under its name.
3. Click your trust.

The trust workspace opens on Trust Home.

Go from your trust to a school

1. At the top left of the trust workspace, click your trust’s name.
2. In Switch organisation, click the school.

If it’s the school you were last working in, it opens straight away. If it’s a different school, save anything you’re working on first: Student Radar reloads to open it, and changes you haven’t saved are lost.

You can only open schools where you have a school account. A school’s page in the trust workspace (see Drill into one school) is a read-only summary and doesn’t open the school’s own workspace. That page has no switcher: click Back to Trust dashboard first.

If you have more than five workspaces, type in Find a school or organisation… to narrow the list. The workspace you’re in has a tick.

If you belong to more than one trust

Choose the trust you want when you sign in, or from Switch organisation. If you open the trust workspace before choosing one, Student Radar asks you to choose.

Notes

• If you can open only one place, for example only your trust, your workspace’s name isn’t a button and there’s nothing to switch.
• If you have Student Radar open in other browser tabs, reload them after you switch.
• For moving between schools, see Switch between schools.

If something doesn’t work

What you see	What to do
“Trust access is not enabled”	Your account isn’t a member of a trust. Click Return to your school. If you need trust access, ask your trust’s central team.
Your trust isn’t in Switch organisation	Your account isn’t a member of the trust. Ask your trust’s central team to add you.
A school isn’t in Switch organisation	You don’t have an account in that school. Ask that school’s Student Radar administrator.
“The school could not be changed while another request from your account is still finishing. Try again in a few minutes.”	Something you started, such as a save in another tab, is still finishing. Wait a few minutes and try again.
“The school could not be changed. Wait for current actions to finish, then reload and try again.”	Wait for anything you’re saving to finish, reload the page, then switch again.
“A school change is already in progress.”	You’ve already chosen a school. Wait for Student Radar to reload.
“This organisation is no longer available. Reload and try again.”	Your access may have changed. Reload the page. If the trust or school is still missing, ask your trust’s central team or the school’s administrator.
“We could not verify your organisation access”	Click Sign out and sign in again. If it keeps happening, contact your school’s Student Radar administrator.
