Review your child's support plan
Written for: Parents and carers.
If your child gets extra help at school for special educational needs, the school may write an Individual Support Plan (ISP). It sets out your child’s needs, the support the school will give and what you can do at home. The school may send you a secure link so you can read the plan, tell them whether it matches what you see at home, and give your overall view. You don’t need to sign in.
Open the plan
Section titled “Open the plan”Open the link the school sent you. The page is headed with your child’s first name, followed by support plan. Under Requested by, you’ll see the school’s name, the version of the plan and the date the link expires.
The link only opens this plan and the questions the school has asked you. It doesn’t give you access to anything else in Student Radar.
Give feedback on each part of the plan
Section titled “Give feedback on each part of the plan”Under Review the plan, each part of the plan has its own card. Each card has a summary of the support, and under At home:, ideas for how you can help at home.
For each part:
- Under Does this reflect what you see?, choose Matches what we see at home, Partly matches, Does not match or Not sure yet.
- If you’d like someone from school to talk to you about this part, tick Contact me about this.
- Add a comment if you’d like. This is optional.
- Click Save feedback.
You’ll see Saved next to the button. To change your feedback later, make your changes and click Update feedback.
Give your overall response
Section titled “Give your overall response”At the bottom of the page, under Your overall response:
- Choose I agree with this plan, I partly agree and would like to discuss it or I do not agree and would like to discuss it.
- Add a final comment if you’d like.
- Click Send overall response.
You’ll see Response saved. The school can see your response alongside the plan. You can change your response while the link is still working: choose a different answer and click Send overall response again.
Some links only let you read the plan. If you don’t see the feedback questions, the school has shared it for reading only.
- Not every school uses secure ISP review links. Your school may share the plan with you in another way, such as at a meeting.
- If you disagree with the plan, say so in your response or contact the school’s SENCo (the teacher who coordinates support for children with special educational needs). Your views are recorded with the plan.
