Log your reading
Written for: Pupils.
Every time you read, you can add it to your reading log. Your log shows the books you’ve read and how long you’ve spent reading. It also helps your school see how your reading is going. Short reading times still count!
Open your reading log
Section titled “Open your reading log”In the menu, click Reading. You’ll see My Reading, with four numbers at the top:
- Books logged: how many different books you’ve logged.
- Minutes: how many minutes of reading you’ve logged.
- Days in loaded log: how many different days you’ve read on.
- Book goal: how many books you’re aiming to read, if you have a goal.
Log your reading
Section titled “Log your reading”- Click Log reading. The Quick reading log opens.
- In Book or reading title, start typing the name of your book. If your book appears in the list, click it. This fills in the Author for you.
- If you’re reading a printed book, you can click Scan ISBN instead. Hold the barcode on the back of the book up to your camera.
- Check the Reading date. It starts as today. If you read on another day, change it.
- In Minutes, type how many minutes you read for.
- In Read with, choose who you read with, for example By myself or With parent/carer.
- Click the stars to show your Enjoyment, Difficulty and Confidence. 1 star is low and 5 stars is high.
- Click Save reading.
Your reading is added to your Reading history.
Add more details
Section titled “Add more details”Click Add pages, ISBN, rating or a reflection to add more. You can add:
- the number of Pages you read
- a Star rating for the book
- a Short reflection: what did you notice, enjoy or find hard?
If you’d like your teacher to look at this reading log, tick I want my teacher to look at this.
Choose a reading challenge
Section titled “Choose a reading challenge”A reading challenge gives you something to aim for.
- Under Challenges, click Choose challenge.
- Click the challenge you want to try.
Your challenge shows how far you’ve got. Logging your reading usually moves your progress on. When you’ve done it all, the challenge says Complete.
See your books and badges
Section titled “See your books and badges”- Reading history shows the books you’ve logged, with how long you’ve read each one.
- Reading badges shows the badges you’ve earned for your reading, and the Next badge you can work towards.
If something doesn’t work
Section titled “If something doesn’t work”| What you see | What to do |

| “Add the book or reading title first.” | Type the name of your book in Book or reading title. |
| “Minutes must be 0 or more.” | Type a number of minutes, like 10. Don’t use a minus sign. |
| “Choose the day you read, up to today.” | Change the Reading date to today or a day before today. |
| “Barcode scanning is not available in this browser. You can still type the ISBN manually.” | Type the book’s name instead, or ask an adult to help you find the ISBN. |
| “Camera access was blocked. You can still type the ISBN manually.” | Type the book’s name instead. An adult can help you allow the camera. |
| “Unable to save reading.” | Wait a moment, then click Save reading again. If it still doesn’t work, tell your teacher. |
