Review and publish a timetable import
Written for: School leaders, office managers and Student Radar administrators.
Student Radar reads your timetable from your MIS. In the Schedule Centre, you can check what a new MIS timetable would add, change or remove before you accept it. Publishing a reviewed import makes that version the timetable Student Radar uses. Later changes in your MIS wait for your review, so they never replace the published timetable on their own.
Stage an import for review
Section titled “Stage an import for review”- In the sidebar, open Administration and choose Schedule Centre.
- Open the MIS imports tab.
- Under Eligible MIS snapshots, find the latest import from your MIS. Each one shows how many lessons it holds and when it was completed.
- Click Stage for review. If the import has already been staged, click Review diff instead.
Staging doesn’t change your timetable. It prepares the import so you can compare it with the current one.
Only complete, approved full MIS syncs with lessons appear under Eligible MIS snapshots. If the list is empty, there’s no new import to review yet.
Review the changes
Section titled “Review the changes”The Reviewed import diff opens below. At the top, the counts show how many Items the import holds and how many are Added, Changed, Removed, Unchanged and Invalid.
The table lists the changes, up to 100 rows:
- Change: whether the lesson is new, changed or removed.
- Lesson: the lesson’s title.
- Class / staff / room: the class, teacher and room it’s linked to. “Unmapped” means none of them could be matched.
- Timing: when the lesson starts.
- Validation: whether the row can be used. Invalid rows show a short reason code.
If anything looks wrong, correct it in your MIS. The corrected timetable comes through with the next full sync, and you can review that import instead.
Publish the timetable
Section titled “Publish the timetable”- Check that Invalid is 0. You can’t publish while any row is invalid.
- Click Publish timetable.
- Read the message, then click Publish reviewed timetable. To go back without publishing, click Cancel.
Student Radar then uses this version as your school’s timetable. At the top of the page, Authority shows the version you published, and on the Overview tab, Active timetable shows its version number.
Look back at earlier imports
Section titled “Look back at earlier imports”Import and version history on the MIS imports tab lists each import with its date, status and counts. Click Review diff to see what an import changed.
What the boxes at the top mean
Section titled “What the boxes at the top mean”- Engine: the scheduling system Student Radar is running for all schools. It’s set by Student Radar, so there’s nothing for you to do. If it says Writes frozen, scheduling changes are paused for a short time, so wait and try again later.
- Authority: the timetable version your school has published. It says Not adopted until you publish one.
- Time zone: the time zone your school’s times are shown in.
- Timetable imports come from your MIS through Student Radar’s MIS connection. Schools without an MIS feed don’t have imports to review.
