Considering MyConcern?

When the DSL reviews a case, where does the wider picture sit?

Tes MyConcern is dedicated safeguarding case management: student concerns and staff allegations, automated chronologies, tracked actions and secure sharing with trusted professionals. Student Radar records safeguarding concerns, DSL actions and chronology alongside attendance, behaviour, SEND and health information. In either system the DSL decides the response, under the school’s safeguarding procedures.

Likely fit

Who each platform may suit

01 / Tes MyConcern

Specialist or platform fit

Tes MyConcern may suit a school or trust looking for dedicated safeguarding case management, including a staff allegations workflow, community reporting, automated chronologies, action tracking and trust reporting through Tes Clarity.

Public materials do not present it as a broad SEND, health, classroom, assessment or parent-engagement suite. Tes describes links to Class Charts behaviour and attendance data and Provision Map SEND information as forthcoming Connected Insights features for customers with all three products.

02 / Student Radar

Connected pupil-support fit

Student Radar may suit a school where safeguarding is one signal among several, and the DSL needs attendance, behaviour, SEND and health context in the same record before deciding what happens next.

Student Radar is not an MIS replacement. Core statutory roll, census, finance, and timetable administration should still sit in the school MIS.

This page does not suggest Tes MyConcern is weak at safeguarding. Its dedicated case management, staff allegations workflow and community reporting are why a school may choose it. Neither system makes safeguarding decisions: the DSL keeps that responsibility, and statutory guidance such as Keeping Children Safe in Education and local safeguarding partnership procedures still apply. This page makes no claim that Student Radar can import MyConcern records.

How the workflow differs

When the DSL needs more than the concern

  1. A teacher records a concern about a change in a pupil’s presentation.
  2. The pupil’s attendance has fallen this half term.
  3. A SEND review is due next month.
  4. First-aid visits have increased.

Tes MyConcern public path

MyConcern records the concern, builds the chronology, tracks actions and supports secure sharing with trusted professionals. Tes describes Connected Insights, which would show behaviour and attendance data from Class Charts and SEND information from Provision Map, as forthcoming for customers with all three products.

Student Radar operating path

  1. Record the concern in Student Radar’s safeguarding workflow.
  2. The DSL reviews it with the attendance, SEND, behaviour and health information their role can see.
  3. The DSL decides the response and any referral, under the school’s child protection policy.
  4. Track the agreed actions and keep them in the chronology.

Stack and price

Tes offers MyConcern alongside Class Charts for behaviour and attendance, Provision Map for SEND and Clarity for trust reporting, and publishes no MyConcern price. Student Radar’s per-pupil price covers safeguarding with attendance, behaviour, SEND and health. Ask both suppliers to quote for the same scope.

The practical questions

Questions about Student Radar and Tes MyConcern

Is Student Radar an alternative to MyConcern?

Student Radar includes its own safeguarding concern, DSL action and chronology workflow, so a school can evaluate it alongside Tes MyConcern. This is not a blanket replacement claim. A school that relies on MyConcern for staff allegations, community reporting or links with other Tes products may have good reasons to keep it.

Can Student Radar import our MyConcern records?

This page makes no import or migration claim. Student Radar has not published a verified scope for moving safeguarding records from another system. Before considering any change, plan how your school would keep access to its existing MyConcern records, and ask in the demo how historic safeguarding information would be handled.

Does Student Radar decide whether to make a referral?

No. The DSL or a deputy DSL decides whether a threshold is met and whether to refer, following the school’s child protection policy, Keeping Children Safe in Education and local safeguarding partnership procedures. Student Radar records the concern, the actions and the chronology, and shows related context to the staff your school permits to see it.

Does Student Radar replace every school system?

No. Student Radar is not an MIS replacement. Core roll, census, finance and timetable administration should remain in the school MIS, and a specialist product may stay where it is the best authority for a particular job.

How much does Student Radar cost?

£4.25 per pupil per year before volume discounts of 5% from 300 pupils, 10% from 500, 15% from 800 and 20% from 1,500. £250 annual minimum, excluding VAT. The annual platform price includes every standard product area. Tes does not publish a MyConcern price; its product page asks schools to book a consultation.

Can we see Student Radar before purchasing?

Yes. Book a 30-minute walkthrough. Bring an invented case and we will show the concern, the chronology, the DSL’s actions and the context each role can see, so your DSL can test it without real pupil information.
