Student Radar

Student Radar comparison

Considering Class Charts?

Compare what happens after the pattern shows up.

Tes describes Class Charts as a classroom tool for two-click behaviour recording, points, seating plans, detentions, homework and parent and student apps. Student Radar also records behaviour and points, then keeps patterns, support plans and report cards beside attendance, SEND, safeguarding and health information, so a pastoral lead can agree the next step with that context.

Likely fit

Who each platform may suit

01 / Tes Class Charts

Specialist or platform fit

Tes Class Charts may suit a school that wants fast classroom behaviour recording, points, seating plans, detentions, digital registers, homework and parent and student apps in one teacher-facing tool.

Strong in teacher and classroom workflows. Tes positions safeguarding case management in MyConcern and SEND plans in Provision Map, and describes the Connected Insights links between the three as forthcoming.

02 / Student Radar

Connected pupil-support fit

Student Radar may suit a school where a behaviour pattern leads to a support plan or report card that is reviewed with attendance, SEND, safeguarding and health context by the staff who own the response.

Student Radar is not an MIS replacement. Core statutory roll, census, finance, and timetable administration should still sit in the school MIS.

This page does not suggest Class Charts is weak at behaviour management. Its classroom speed, seating plans, detentions and parent and student apps are why a school may choose it. The comparison is about what happens once a pattern needs a plan, a report card and a review. In either system staff decide the response; the software holds the record and shows the pattern.

How the workflow differs

When a behaviour pattern needs a plan

  1. Behaviour points have risen across several lessons.
  2. Attendance has dipped over the same fortnight.
  3. The pupil is on the SEND register.
  4. A pastoral lead needs to agree a plan and review it.

Tes Class Charts public path

Class Charts records behaviour in the lesson, applies points, can create detentions from recorded incidents and alerts staff when behaviour thresholds are met. Its analytics help staff spot patterns. Tes positions safeguarding case management in MyConcern and SEND plans in Provision Map, and describes Connected Insights links between the three as forthcoming.

Student Radar operating path

  1. Review recorded behaviour with its context, including where the record is incomplete.
  2. See the attendance, SEND, safeguarding and health information the role can access.
  3. Agree a support plan or report card with an owner and a review date.
  4. Review progress and record the decision staff made.

Stack and price

Decide which tool staff use in the lesson

Both products record behaviour, so running both means deciding which one teachers use in the lesson and which holds the plan and its review. Class Charts also covers seating plans, homework and detentions. Tes does not publish a Class Charts price, so ask both suppliers to quote for the same scope.

The practical questions

Questions about Student Radar and Tes Class Charts

Is Student Radar an alternative to Class Charts?

For some schools. Both record behaviour and points, so a school may compare them directly. This is not a blanket replacement claim: a school may keep Class Charts for its seating plans, homework and detentions, and should test Student Radar on the support work that follows a pattern.

Does Student Radar include behaviour support plans and report cards?

Yes. Student Radar self-reports behaviour support plans and report cards with review dates. In the demo, ask to follow one pupil from a recorded observation to a plan, a report card and its review.

Does Student Radar decide which pupils need support?

No. Student Radar shows recorded behaviour, patterns and related context for staff to review, including where the record is incomplete. Staff decide whether a pupil needs a conversation, a plan, a report card or another response, and who owns it.

Does Student Radar replace every school system?

No. Student Radar is not an MIS replacement. Core roll, census, finance and timetable administration should remain in the school MIS, and a specialist product may stay where it is the best authority for a particular job.

How much does Student Radar cost?

£4.25 per pupil per year before volume discounts of 5% from 300 pupils, 10% from 500, 15% from 800 and 20% from 1,500. £250 annual minimum, excluding VAT. The annual platform price includes every standard product area. Tes does not publish a Class Charts price; its pages direct schools to speak to sales or request a demo.

Can we see Student Radar before purchasing?

Yes. Book a 30-minute walkthrough. Bring an anonymised behaviour pattern and we will show how it is reviewed with its context, and how a support plan or report card is set up and reviewed.
