Provision Settings: maintain the school’s shared starting values

Student Radar helps authorised staff set shared provision starting rates, hours, priority, delivery weeks and review cadence, with source information to distinguish saved settings from a draft.

Defaults support planning; they do not re-price saved provision, confirm delivery or schedule reviews automatically. Only authorised staff can change the shared school values.

Read whether values are school defaults, built-in defaults or an unconfirmed fallback.

Shared school planning

Set a shared starting point for provision planning.

Keep the school’s provision rates, delivery weeks and review cadence together, with a clear distinction between saved school values and built-in assumptions.

  1. 01

    Read the source

Check which school and saved version the displayed rates and weeks belong to.

  2. 02

    Save an agreed change

Review the planning fields and preview, then explicitly Save school defaults and check the result.

  3. 03

    Keep reset effects clear

Discard an unsaved draft or confirm a whole-school reset; neither silently re-prices saved provision.

Shared basis

Keep the source of the rates visible

The same school defaults serve provision planning. Saved-by/date context is different from built-in or unavailable school settings.

Planning preview

Review the amount before saving

Change the TA or HLTA rate, hours and delivery weeks within the available bounds. The estimated baseline preview remains planning context.

Recorded staff salaries are not used to populate these default rates.

Saved school value

Confirm the change survives a reload

A successful save updates the school version. Reopening the page confirms the returned value rather than relying on an unsaved input.

Existing provision costs and dates retain their own saved values.

Explicit reset

Confirm the whole-school effect

The reset dialog names the built-in values and the shared scope. Choose Keep current values or deliberately Reset for the whole school.

Resetting also loses the current unsaved draft; it is not a private browser preference.

Resulting defaults

Check the restored values

The confirmed result restores built-in rates and delivery weeks. Individual pupil support remains a separate authorised source arrangement.

Review reminders and automatic ISP provision sync are not available here.

Phone planning

Read the fields and final action together

Scroll through costs, review cadence and the save/reset controls on a phone, checking the source and confirmed result.

A typed value is not shared until the explicit save succeeds.

Keep the next decision grounded in the record

Defaults support planning; they do not re-price saved provision, confirm delivery or schedule reviews automatically. Only authorised staff can change the shared school values.

Keep school-set values distinct from fallback assumptions

Confirm an agreed shared change through the saved version

Avoid treating a default as delivered support or automatic work

Questions about Provision Settings

Which provision defaults can authorised staff maintain?

Provision Settings covers starting rates, hours, priority, delivery weeks and review cadence. Staff check the source line before treating values as saved school settings.

How can we distinguish school defaults from unsaved values?

Provision Settings shows source information for the values in view. Staff check that source before treating a number as the school’s saved setting; old browser-only settings need explicit review.

The value of a connected school

A plan matters when support reaches the child.

Bring the evidence around provision into the review, so the SENCO and teaching team can decide the next step together.

Follow a connection to see what it makes possible

Relevant context, with access set by each staff member’s role and responsibilities. Staff decide the response.

  1. Attendance + SEND

    Check attendance alongside planned support

Look at absence and late arrival around provision. A pupil may have a plan in place and still miss opportunities to receive that support.

  2. Assessment + SEND

Bring progress evidence to the review

Consider recorded learning and small steps alongside targets and provision. Keep the evidence visible while staff judge what is helping and what needs another look.

  3. Family communication + SEND

Include the people who know the pupil

Gather family contributions and coordinate review conversations around the same pupil, with named actions and dates to keep the agreed work moving.
