Inclusion Strategy: connect intent, activity and intended outcomes

Student Radar helps school staff prepare an annual inclusion strategy with barriers, activities, budgets and intended outcomes, review evidence limits and record the version actually published externally.

School leaders review every suggestion and decide the wording, budget and evidence. Saving, downloading and recording publication are separate from publishing the reviewed document on the school website.

The example remains a draft; no website publication is performed or recorded.

School strategy review

Turn the school’s evidence into a reviewed strategy.

Build the statement, barriers, activities, agreed budgets and intended outcomes, with source limitations and public-sharing review kept beside the draft.

  1. 01

Read the source and annual scope

Check the school, current annual record, coverage years and source limitations before drafting.

  2. 02

    Review the proposed content

Write or select appropriate suggestions, confirming activity type, agreed budget and measurable intended outcomes.

  3. 03

    Separate save from publication

Confirm the saved draft, review public suitability and only record a version the school has published through its separate process.

Saved school draft

Check that the wording was saved

The editor distinguishes unsaved changes, a save in progress and the school’s saved version. A typed or generated paragraph is not yet an approved strategy.

Clear intent

Write for the intended audience

Use an accessible statement and the available guidance, keeping pupil-identifying detail in the authorised source record.

The statement is school wording for review, not a generated approval.

Barriers with purpose

Describe what pupils experience

Record a specific participation barrier so that activities and review evidence can address it. A missing database field alone is not a pupil barrier.

Barrier wording needs school judgement and supporting evidence.

Human-selected suggestions

Compare before applying

Read source limits and compare with the current draft. Apply only selected suggestions; AI replacement and appended data suggestions have different effects.

Nothing in this example is automatically applied or externally published.

Agreed resources

Keep provision cost distinct from strategy budget

Describe the activity and its barrier links, select its type and confirm an agreed strategy budget. Recorded support cost is not automatically that budget.

Intended outcomes and recorded outcomes remain different facts.

Publication boundary

Review the exact version before recording publication

The publication review identifies outstanding issues and the separate website process. Recording publication saves a baseline; it does not upload the document.

Public suitability and source gaps still require explicit human review.

Phone editing

Keep the save state in view

Move through the school-level sections on a phone, checking the source and save state before leaving.

A saved school draft and a published website copy are distinct versions.

Keep the next decision grounded in the record

School leaders review every suggestion and decide the wording, budget and evidence. Saving, downloading and recording publication are separate from publishing the reviewed document on the school website.

Connect participation barriers, activities and intended review evidence

Keep agreed budgets and source limitations explicit

Confirm a saved draft without implying website publication

Questions about Inclusion Strategy

Can staff review source limitations before using data suggestions?

The workflow separates suggestions, source limitations and review of the annual baseline. Staff review proposed data before applying it to the strategy.

Can we retain the version the school published externally?

Inclusion Strategy includes an external-publication record alongside annual strategy drafting, a Word working copy and source-limit review. Saving a draft does not publish it externally.

The value of a connected school

A plan matters when support reaches the child.

Bring the evidence around provision into the review, so the SENCO and teaching team can decide the next step together.

Follow a connection to see what it makes possible

Relevant context, with access set by each staff member’s role and responsibilities. Staff decide the response.

  1. Attendance + SEND

    Check attendance alongside planned support

Look at absence and late arrival around provision. A pupil may have a plan in place and still miss opportunities to receive that support.

  2. Assessment + SEND

Bring progress evidence to the review

Consider recorded learning and small steps alongside targets and provision. Keep the evidence visible while staff judge what is helping and what needs another look.

  3. Family communication + SEND

Include the people who know the pupil

Gather family contributions and coordinate review conversations around the same pupil, with named actions and dates to keep the agreed work moving.

Ask to see a draft reviewed from source to publication boundary

Use fictional school wording to save an intent, compare data suggestions and inspect the separate publication review without publishing anything.
