Access Arrangements: connect the case to evidence and delivery

Student Radar helps staff bring proposed adjustments, usual-support evidence, trials, assessor information and coordinator decisions together with external-application records and exam-day preparation.

An authorised coordinator decides from the relevant evidence. A saved observation, rule checklist, generated draft or prepared application does not itself grant approval or prove delivery.

The intended pupil, current state and next action stay visible. Fictional school example.

Access Arrangements

From an observed difficulty to an evidenced arrangement

Connect the pupil’s usual support, trials, assessor evidence, coordinator decision and assessment-day preparation within the correct framework and season.

  1. 01

    Open the right case

Choose the framework and academic year, identify the pupil and propose the arrangement with its supported decision route and reason.

  2. 02

    Gather and review the evidence

Link the relevant document version, record classroom observations, request teacher evidence and review actual trial and assessor records.

  3. 03

Record the decision and prepare the assessment

Keep the rationale and evidence attached to each arrangement, record any external portal result separately, and check staff/resources before the recorded exam session.

Find the gap

Make the missing evidence visible

The case workbench brings proposals together with a framework-specific readiness list. Missing, stale and contradictory records remain different reasons for a coordinator to inspect the source.

Record usual support

Record the usual support without assuming it is established

A dated observation names the difficulty, usual adjustment, context, independence and specific example. Confirming established use is an explicit statement, separate from saving the draft record.

Check the saved observation

Check the observation that was saved

The saved classroom observation remains a draft when the case is reopened. Outstanding readiness requirements remain visible; a draft observation has not silently become confirmed eligibility evidence.

Coordinator decision

Keep approval tied to a human rationale

Each arrangement has its own decision route and recorded rationale. School/internal decisions, approval pending external submission and actual external approval remain distinct; missing evidence can lead to more work instead of a forced approval.

Questions about Access Arrangements

Can staff work in different assessment frameworks?

The workspace distinguishes School/internal, STA KS2, MTC, Phonics and JCQ AARA. Choose the framework and academic year for the actual assessment.

Does a school decision count as external approval?

No. School/internal decisions, statutory approval and JCQ approval are different. Record the external portal outcome and check current official guidance for the applicable season.

The value of a connected school

A plan matters when support reaches the child.

Bring the evidence around provision into the review, so the SENCO and teaching team can decide the next step together.

Follow a connection to see what it makes possible

Relevant context, with access set by each staff member’s role and responsibilities. Staff decide the response.

  1. Attendance + SEND

    Check attendance alongside planned support

Look at absence and late arrival around provision. A pupil may have a plan in place and still miss opportunities to receive that support.

  2. Assessment + SEND

Bring progress evidence to the review

Consider recorded learning and small steps alongside targets and provision. Keep the evidence visible while staff judge what is helping and what needs another look.

  3. Family communication + SEND

Include the people who know the pupil

Gather family contributions and coordinate review conversations around the same pupil, with named actions and dates to keep the agreed work moving.
