Alternative Provision / Placements and Commissioner Access
Placements are grouped by commissioning school, with agreed hours, session pattern, key worker and review dates. Commissioner access goes to one named person for one pupil, with a purpose, a legal basis and an end date.
Nothing is shared until a named person accepts access, and your team can withdraw it with a reason.
Controlled sharing
Placement dates and type are always shared. You choose whether to add attendance coverage, published review summaries and published timetable windows.
01
Agreed hours a week, the session pattern that feeds the rota, who commissioned it, start and expected end dates, the next review and the key worker.
02
Invite a school on Student Radar, a named person at a school that is not, or a named local authority officer. Each invitation records why access is given and when it ends.
03
Renew, suspend, withdraw or close access with a reason. Access is re-checked continually while it is in use.
What commissioners see
A commissioning school sees the pupils shared with it, whether they were present, the next review and provider updates, with a four-week morning and afternoon attendance grid. A local authority sees placement details, attendance, the latest review summary, the published timetable and anything you have shared with it.
Kept back
Safeguarding records, medical records, EHCP documents and internal daily notes are never shared through commissioner access, whatever else you choose to show.
Schools and local authorities see the placement information you choose, in one place, for as long as access is agreed.
Access is narrow by design, with a recorded purpose and legal basis.
Each invitation has an end date, and can be renewed, suspended or withdrawn.
Safeguarding, medical, EHCP and internal notes stay inside the provision.

The value of a connected school
Provider staff use the same safeguarding and health tools as mainstream schools, and commissioning schools on Student Radar have their own side of the placement.

Safeguarding + Alternative Provision
Provider staff can raise a concern and authorised DSLs work it on the DSL Action Board, with the chronology and record transfer in the same place. Safeguarding records are never shared through commissioner access.
