Assess: record class judgements with their assessment context

Student Radar helps teachers record school subject judgements and scores for a chosen class, term and assessment date, with dedicated result and import workflows where Assessment Tracker or Quest is used.

Staff interpret assessment evidence and agree the next teaching step. A completed marksheet or observation does not establish impact, create follow-up work or send a family message.

The class marksheet

Choose the context, record the judgement and check it saved

Keep the school’s original subject, scale, period and supporting evidence attached to the result.

  1. 01

    Where do I start?

Open Assess for the class you teach, or use the standalone workspace with its available year and class filters. Choose the assessment period and subject before entering a mark.

  2. 02

What is the meaning behind the mark?

A reading judgement can carry a score, curriculum objective and supporting evidence. The configured school scale gives the entry its context; original measures remain important.

  3. 03

What still needs entering or saving?

Use pupil search, subject tabs and blanks-first entry. Coverage distinguishes entered judgements from blank or explicitly unassessed records where those reasons are enabled. Review unsaved changes and check the save state.

Keep the meaning behind the mark

Read the judgement choices, score, objective and supporting evidence together before saving. A number alone does not explain the child’s learning.

Different entry routines

Can I enter a run of results?

Keyboard entry, spreadsheet paste and permitted score upload support different routines. Review the target pupils, columns and values before applying an upload, and resolve a failed upload before assuming observations were saved.

  • School judgement and score context retained
  • Objectives and evidence beside the entry
  • Explicit save state and incomplete coverage visible

Check the saved state

Check the saved state

Review changes and wait for the save result. A confirmed entry is assessment evidence, not proof that teaching had an effect or that follow-up happened.

Keep sources distinct

How do other assessment sources fit?

School assessments remain distinct from imported MIS marks. Configured Assessment Tracker and Quest schemes retain their source context; statutory entry and ongoing EYFS observations use their own workflows.

Keep the evidence behind the judgement

Use the recorded context in professional discussion, then agree responsibilities and review in the relevant school workflow.

Enter results in the intended subject, scale and period

Review coverage and unsaved changes before interpreting the grid

Check the save and agree the next teaching step

Questions about Assess

Can schools use their own assessment scales?

Assess supports the school’s subjects, scales, score ranges and statement grids. Teachers select the intended scheme and assessment context before entering marks.

Can teachers upload scores as well as enter them manually?

Assess includes file upload alongside marksheet entry. Schools using Assessment Tracker or Quest also have their dedicated result and import workflows in the scheme selector.
