Core / Staff Home

Start the day with your own timetable and the pupils to check.

Staff Home is the morning view for each member of staff: their lessons, cover and duties, the pupils who need a check today, what has changed since the last school day, and the actions and messages waiting for them.

Counts and tags on Home are prompts to check, not conclusions. Staff open the pupil or the source record and use what they know before they act.

Staff Home for a demo account with no timetable: Now and next says so, and an unreadable source shows a dash rather than a zero.

The first ten minutes

From signing in to the first lesson

Home is built from the member of staff’s own timetable. The Heatmap stays the whole-school picture, and each school chooses which of the two staff see first.

  1. 01

    Now and next

Lessons, cover and duties for today in time order, with cover and duties marked so they are not missed.

  2. 02

    Needs attention

Confirmed absences, missing registers, stale attendance, notices, actions due and messages waiting, each counted for the pupils in view.

  3. 03

    Today’s pupils

Pupils in today’s classes who need a check, with the lesson support to put in place, the notices staff may see and any actions due.

Counts with their sources

Each count says how far to trust it

A missing register is counted apart from an absence, because it is not one. When a source may be out of date the count says so, and when Student Radar cannot read a source it shows a dash rather than a zero.

  • Missing registers counted separately from confirmed absences
  • A last known count when the source may have moved on
  • Changes since the previous school day, each opening where it came from

Favourites

The same morning through one class, year group or form

Staff can keep up to 20 favourite classes, year groups and forms as lenses beside Today. A lens narrows the counts, pupils and changes to that group. It never widens what the member of staff is allowed to see, and Now and next stays their own timetable.

  • Only groups the member of staff can already access
  • Home reopens on the lens chosen last time
  • Actions and messages outside the lens are still counted, with a link to them

Leadership pulse

Heads, senior and year leaders, SENCOs, Pupil Premium leads, DSLs and administrators also see whole-school figures, such as overdue actions and attendance anomalies, which do not change with the lens.

Getting around

Open a page or start a record by voice, then check it

From the microphone in the top bar, staff can open pages and pupil profiles they can already access, or start a task, calendar event or first aid record by answering one question at a time. Anything started by voice opens in the usual form, and nothing is saved until the member of staff checks it and saves it.

  • Voice never chooses the pupil or awards points
  • Dates and times are never guessed when they were not said
  • Uses the browser’s own speech recognition, so audio may go to the browser maker’s speech service

A morning view that knows whose morning it is

Home does not replace the pupil record or the register. It puts the day, the pupils to check and the work waiting in one place, and says plainly where its information is incomplete.

The day’s lessons, cover and duties before the first bell

Now and next follows the member of staff’s own timetable, whichever lens they use.

Pupils to check, with the support to put in place

Notices, lesson support and actions due sit on the pupil card, limited to what the member of staff may see.

Counts that admit what they do not know

Stale and unavailable sources are labelled, so a quiet morning is not mistaken for a complete one.

The value of a connected school

See the pattern. Bring the context.

A change in attendance or behaviour is the start of a conversation. The connected pupil record helps staff ask a better next question.

Follow a connection to see what it makes possible

Relevant context, with access set by each staff member’s role and responsibilities. Staff decide the response.

  1. SEND + Core

Check whether support is reaching the pupil

Put attendance and behaviour alongside plans, provision and review evidence. Staff can investigate missed support before deciding what needs to change.

  2. Health + Core

Bring health needs into the attendance conversation

Authorised staff can check relevant medical needs and care plans when following up absence, then agree practical support with the family.

    Explore health
  3. Family communication + Core

Keep the family conversation with the follow-up

Read the contact history around a pupil before reaching out. Record the next action so another colleague can pick up the conversation with context.
