Alternative Provision / AP Accreditations
AP qualification offers and accreditation achievements
Student Radar helps alternative provision staff maintain qualification entries and offers, assign pupils and record confirmed award or unit achievement. Catalogue definitions require checking with the awarding body; an entry does not establish approval, issue a certificate or record an achievement.
A catalogue entry is not external accreditation confirmation, a pupil assignment or an achieved award. Staff check specifications with the awarding body and record only the outcome actually confirmed.
AP Accreditations
From the award definition to an evidenced pupil record
Maintain awarding-body and provider entries, publish the qualification offer and record actual award or unit achievement with its evidence and reporting period.
01
Check the catalogue definition
Find the exact body, award and level, review the structure and unit list, and retain unconfirmed qualification details as gaps.
02
Connect the offer and pupil assignment
Add the intended level to the provision’s offer, then record the pupil’s placement assignment with its staff, dates and expected evidence.
03
Record confirmed outcomes and inspect coverage
Record a unit or whole-award achievement separately with its date/evidence, then read the permitted-pupil report using its actual entered/achieved definitions.
Define the unit
Add units to the intended level
The fictional unit form records a code and title for an additional unit. A definition change does not record a pupil as completing it or issue a certificate.
Check the saved definition
Verify the catalogue change that was saved
The reopened fictional entry retains both unit titles under the same body, award and level. It remains outside the offer until the separate offer action is completed.
Publish the intended offer
Keep offer publication separate from specification confirmation
Add to your offer asks for the effective date and retains the notice that accreditation details need checking. An offered qualification still requires its pupil assignment and actual outcome records.
Read achievement with its basis
Interpret unit-certificated achievement carefully
The fictional report has one entered pupil, one with a unit achievement, one unit and one missing-evidence record. Unit achievement contributes under its explicit basis; it does not automatically become a whole award.
A clearer accreditation record
A catalogue entry is not external accreditation confirmation, a pupil assignment or an achieved award. Staff check specifications with the awarding body and record only the outcome actually confirmed.
Retain missing evidence and unconfirmed specifications
Read report counts with their award or unit basis
Questions about AP Accreditations
Can we maintain both awarding-body and provider-created entries?
Yes. The catalogue supports both, with qualification numbers, credits and specifications checked before staff rely on a definition.
Can we record actual unit or award achievement with evidence?
Yes. Record achievement against the intended pupil assignment with its evidence and reporting period. Publishing an offer or assigning a pupil does not itself record achievement.

Raise a concern from the pupil you are working with
Provider staff can raise a concern, and authorised DSLs work it on the DSL Action Board, with the chronology and record transfer in the same place. Attendance, review and timetable views shared about a named learner leave out protected record types. Staff see summaries and only the records they are separately authorised to open, and a link does not give wider access.

See the placement from the commissioning school’s side
Schools that commission placements keep a provider register with due-diligence checks, placement checks before, during and after the placement, and an evidence pack they can export.
