Pupil Premium: connect funded approaches with delivery and review

Student Radar helps school teams link intended outcomes, funded approaches and delivery evidence, review implementation separately from outcomes, and prepare a checked strategy statement or governor report.

Staff approve the strategy and interpret outcomes. Spend, sessions, proof attachments and completed tasks do not establish impact; a report export does not publish or send it.

The fictional programme has a £12,000 allocation and one £1,200 budgeted approach; these are not payment records. Ready is app readiness, not proof of external publication.

School strategy, spend and evidence

Connect the strategy to spend, delivery and the next decision.

Plan school Pupil Premium outcomes and funded approaches, review the evidence behind them and prepare checked statement and governor reports.

  1. 01

    Understand the permitted picture

Read cohort comparisons and coverage in the intended year and period.

  2. 02

    Plan and connect the response

Describe public outcomes, fund approaches and link original delivery evidence.

  3. 03

    Review and report deliberately

Separate implementation from outcomes, then check and export the current statement.

One operational view of a school strategy

Overview links attention prompts to strategy, pupils and approach records. Missing proof or review evidence is a question to investigate, not proof that support did not happen.

Keep comparisons interpretable

Keep comparisons interpretable

Pupil Premium and other-pupil figures retain period, method, denominators and suppression. A gap describes the available evidence, not a causal effect.

The example shows five Pupil Premium and fifteen other pupils with an explicit attendance window; other measures are unpopulated.

Follow up within permitted pupil access

Follow up within permitted pupil access

Named pupil context and funded approach links are available only to permitted readers. Governors and trust readers use school figures and strategy without named pupil rows.

Unknown behaviour, attainment or SEND fields do not become reassuring zeros.

Ask about access and participation

Ask about access and participation

Read clubs and trips with charge status and recorded reach, then inspect permitted follow-up. A selected trip is not automatically attended.

Unpopulated measures and unknown charge information retain their meaning.

The strategy outline connects school and funding overview, intent, challenges, outcomes and approach evidence. Save public wording explicitly.

The example’s school wording persists after a versioned save and reload.

Record budgeted cost, rationale, owner and review date. Link original provision, pupil relationships and proof without duplicating the delivery record.

A budgeted approach is not a payment or a final impact judgement.

Keep checking, approval and export separate

Keep checking, approval and export separate

Read readiness and privacy checks, request authorisation where appropriate, then export Word/PDF. Download and keeping a programme document have separate outcomes.

No export publishes to a school website or confirms governors received a report.

Use the section selector and scroll the current year’s preview and checks, retaining the same approval and privacy boundaries.

A narrower screen does not remove the requirement to inspect public wording.

Make the next decision from the evidence

Staff approve the strategy and interpret outcomes. Spend, sessions, proof attachments and completed tasks do not establish impact; a report export does not publish or send it.

Questions about Pupil Premium

Can staff review implementation separately from outcomes?

Yes. The workflow separates what was delivered from the evidence of change, with programme, pupil and equity views to support a review.

Can we prepare a checked strategy statement or governor report?

Pupil Premium supports programme and funded-approach review, a public strategy workflow and checked exports. Staff review implementation separately from outcome evidence.

The value of a connected school

School priorities with the evidence underneath.

Connected reporting gives leaders a route from the whole-school picture to a question, a named action and its review.

Follow a connection to see what it makes possible

Relevant context, with access set by each staff member’s role and responsibilities. Staff decide the response.

  1. Attendance + Lead

Follow the cohort behind the headline

Move from school attendance into year groups, pupil groups and sessions. Use the detail to focus the leadership conversation and decide what needs investigating.

  2. SEND + Lead

Review provision, delivery and the evidence of progress

Bring SEND reporting into the improvement cycle so leaders can review provision and costs alongside recorded outcomes and the gaps still needing attention.

  3. Safeguarding + Lead

Keep oversight appropriate to the audience

Use safeguarding assurance and aggregated evidence for leadership oversight, while case detail stays within authorised safeguarding workflows.
