Pupils: find a child and open the right class tool

Student Radar helps teaching staff search, filter and sort the selected class’s pupil list, review available attendance and flags, and open the relevant pupil record or class tool.

A list position or visible flag supports enquiry. Missing attendance, withheld SEND information and unavailable risk are not proof of low need.

Fictional pupils with initials where photos are not supplied. Only available information is shown.

From the selected class to the pupil’s next record

A list position or visible flag supports enquiry. Missing attendance, withheld SEND information and unavailable risk are not proof of low need.

  1. 01

    Confirm the class

Read the year, group type and pupils you can see, especially when class names are similar.

  2. 02

    Find the relevant pupils

Search by name, choose any matching available cohort filters and a useful sort.

  3. 03

    Open or print deliberately

Open the permitted pupil or class tool, or review print options for an appropriate class list.

A name search within the class

A name search within the class

Search applies inside the selected class and active filters. Clear it before assuming the wider roster is empty.

A search result is a scoped working list, not the whole school.

Filters whose meaning stays clear

Filters whose meaning stays clear

Available filters can include SEND, EAL, Pupil premium, New joiners and Needs attention. Several selected cohort buttons include pupils matching any selected button; name search still applies.

Filter availability follows source data and access.

Choose whether to include eligible flags or only matching pupils. Safeguarding, looked-after and young-carer flags are excluded from the print output.

Review the group and flag choices before opening the print output.

The gaps remain visible

The gaps remain visible

The broad class view shows No data yet for missing attendance and Unavailable for a risk level outside the example account’s access.

Unknown data is not displayed as zero, perfect attendance or Low risk.

A class list that helps staff investigate accurately

Find the pupil and preserve what is known, missing or outside access.

The intended class remains identifiable

Year and group context help keep similarly named classes apart.

Pupils found without losing source meaning

Search, filters and display choices do not change the pupil’s underlying record.

A practical route into the next task

Use the offered pupil, register, seating or print workflow with its own review and permissions.

Questions about Pupils

Can teachers narrow a class list before reviewing pupils?

The Pupils view offers name search, filtering, sorting and display choices, with routes to a pupil’s record and relevant class tools.

How should staff read missing class attendance?

Read missing-data labels as missing information, not fabricated percentages. List position and flags do not establish why a pupil needs support.
